Kubbar IslandUninhabited Kubbar Island at a distance of 18 nautical miles south of failaka island opposite Al-zoor coast . A solar -powered lighthouse was built there as well as a natural landing field for helicopters . It has many species of rare plants, in addition to some rare corals. There are low hills in the middle of the island which gradually slope towards sea level . Its shores are quite and its sand is soft. Seagulls and flamingos exist there in great number. The coast is protected from pollution which could threaten  the wildlife out there. These measures were taken following the desertion of the island. The reason for these measures was that it made the rare birds and  plants disappear from the island . Tourism will surely flourish on the island once the project to turn it into a protected zone has been implemented.
